Sandra Mansour seems to be holding a cocktail party for Fall 2019, and a myriad of different characters was invited. One of them looked like a 1930s seductress in a well-draped mint green frock that was akin to a Madame Grès creation. Another resembled a spirit from the Victorian era, with her semi-sheer black lace pouf dress that had a somber yet sexually subversive feel to it. While another guest seemed straight out of the 1980s in her shimmering pleather mini-dress with ballooned-up frills in her bodice. If all this seems too much to absorb nor too confusing to envision, it may surprise one to know that this was an actual seasonal collection from Ms. Mansour. The lack of cohesion made it seem that she didn’t have a singular narrative this season. As separate entities, these clothes are beautiful—save for a couple of garish leather and chiffon pieces—but when grouped together, the story gets a little lost in translation. It isn’t clear what kind of woman Mansour was designing her latest fall line for. But maybe, just maybe, that’s the beauty of it? Overall, this offering left us with too many questions with little to no answers!
