Ethereal is probably what would best describe Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2019 Collection. This season, the premier dressmaker is going an Edwardian route, complete with overly-puffed sleeves, high collars, and shapeless silhouettes. The latter is fairly new territory for Acra, as her designs, especially the ones that end up on the red carpet, are usually form-fitting and even sexy at times. But here, there’s less sex and more romance, due in part of the show-stopping embroideries that many frocks are decorated with. The floral appliques are sure to strike a chord for those young fresh-faced debutantes looking for an outfit for their prom or coming out balls. While the glimmering velvet numbers will most likely be worn by their mothers. In this respect, Reem Acra becomes a family affair, and beyond the glamour of the red carpet, these are dresses that might hold sentimental value for those who’ll buy and wear them.
