Gabriele Morati believes that rock music today isn’t what it used to be, and as a response, he created a collection that shows how glam rock really was back when he thought it was groundbreaking. Redemption’s Pre-Fall 2019 Collection is all about channeling the sexy, underground rocker chick look of the 1980s when the likes of David Bowie and Patti Smith reigned supreme in both music and style. Here, the tighter the pieces, the better as leather and silk, both of which were made through sustainable means, were cut into figure-hugging dresses and separates. Leopard print also made appearances by way of a nipped-waisted coatdress and both mini and maxi-dresses. Faux fur patterned in black-and-white chevron added to the rebellious spirit this offering conjured up. And for the evening? Multiple plays on the little black dress: a long-sleeved mini made out of shimmering velvet, an off-the-shoulder number in draped jersey, and a stunning bustier dress with a ruffled train at the back. Although there wasn’t anything revolutionary about this collection, the idea of this fearless rocker chick is likely to inspire women to dress a little more daring these days, maybe in pieces from this line.
