No matter what people say, haute couture can still look modern and chic. Despite having the skills worthy of such, Rahul Mishra‘s latest collection didn’t exactly fit those descriptions. His Fall 2019 show was just overwhelming, with heavy layering, eye-sore embroideries, and ugly graphics decorating his finely made clothes. We barely made out his excellent construction underneath all those unnecessary decorations! And if he thought those unsubtle pops of neon would make this offering a bit more contemporary, he thought wrong. Those garish hints only made it worse! In fact, his whole palette—from the boring greys to the dirty-looking orange lace and green decorations—was just off! And what was up with all the checks overlaid by the lace? Those weren;t nice at all. Hopefully, by next season he’ll refine his collections even more so that his sublime couture-caliber skills will shine through!
