We’re just going to outright say it: Prabal Gurung‘s latest collection looks horrible! Inspired by his recent trips to Nepal (his home country) and India, he had a treasure trove of references and inspirations and the fact that he came up with this travesty is just shocking. First, the colors. This Fall 2019 show was a parade of overwhelmingly bright hues that did little to fascinate customers and clients. Not only were the colors themselves extremely garish, but the combos Gurung applied were downright appalling. Doesn’t those red and yellow outfits remind you of a certain clown who’s the face of a major global food chain? Why would women want to wear something that reminds others of fast-food mascots? Second, the proportions. We understand oversizing and sportswear are big nowadays, but it’s best to leave them to those are know how to do them properly. Here, the proportions were simply awful! Most of the models looked like there were drowning in those cartoonishly big garments. Not to mention the unnecessary feathered frocks that weren’t that fanciful at all. Still, some evening-wear looks, particularly the ball gowns, were elegant enough. But against such terrible daywear-dominated collection, they were simply drowned out!
