Several watch aficionados and enthusiasts have seen the new watch in metal back at SIHH 2018 in January, and they were able to see, in person, that the model is truly groundbreaking. Since it’s only a concept watch, it is not available through purchase, even for some of the brand’s most faithful and wealthiest clientele. The model is only for the historic roster of a brand as premier as Piaget.

With only 2 millimeters in thickness, Piaget’s Altiplano Ultimate Concept Watch is a feat that has rocked the haute horology industry. For many decades, the renowned Swiss luxury label has been offering the thinnest timepieces possible, but this new model may just be the pinnacle of their success. Piaget managed to achieve a slender and sleek watch, both with a technologically advanced movement and a beautifully pristine case. The Altiplano Ultimate Concept Watch will surely be a legendary timepiece that will carry the name of Piaget to greater heights for the next generations.
Cons
As groundbreaking as the watch is, however, it’s also extremely fragile. Many critics and aficionados noted that during SIHH 2018, it was nearly impossible for people to wear the said model. Piaget themselves had to handle the watch with gloves as to not break anything within the 2 mm timepiece. And while a large host of clients would appreciate such a model in their collection, the Swiss company has revealed no plans to ever reproduce this model for retail. It would have been a lucrative venture on their part if they did.
