The Pharrell x Adidas NMD Hu NMD “Solar Pack” was originally tagged as the “Afro Pack,” due to the inspiration drawn from East Africa’s style and spirit. Out of the 3-Stripes’ models, the Hu Solar Light Pink stands out differently, as like the others, it has a unique colorway and defining details that are totally fascinating and captivating. Even months before its scheduled launch in August, it has gained a following all over the world.
Pros
Bold and bright, which is often Pharrell’s style in the shoes he makes with the brand, the NMD Hu Solar Light Pink is an astonishing pair that would capture a gaze even from afar. The unique detailing of the shoes, with a cool pattern on its upper and the bead graphic as a nod to the African heritage added a depth in the design of the pair. But what takes the award for the most captivating design detail are the bold graphics written in a unique text style, which gives off a binary code-looking message that reads “Mother Land.” The contrasting colors added to the Solar Light Pink include a bright yellow outsole, a green branding tab at the back, and a vibrant blue lacing apparatus, while balancing hues are the white in the midsole and a few black and gray accents in the upper.
Cons
The shoes are bold and dashing—yet too bold and too dashing for others’ tastes. People who like keeping it simple would be overwhelmed by the combination of more than three colors, and might find the graphics tacky to wear on a daily basis. The style is gorgeous, for sure, but the high price point for the Pharrell x Adidas NMD Hu Solar Light Pink Sneakers is a little too steep for lifestyle kicks.
