If Alice in Wonderland was set today, what would she look like? Wei Lin and Mijia Zhang of PH5 reimagines the classic fairytale character and her fantastical story into their new Fall 2019 Collection. Firstly, their own “Alice” has a colorful wardrobe and travels throughout a quirky and urban “Wonderland” in shades of burgundy, teal, pink, and azure. A wavy motif further pushes the “weird but interesting” narrative and is seen in various iterations, from the prints on a t-shirt to the hems of skirt and dress. Pleating was also a big element here, shown in a sheer chiffon wine-colored jumpsuit and a tea-length day dress. The softness of such fabric-manipulation gives the wearer all the agency she needs to explore her own wonderland, wherever that may be. Surprisingly, tailoring was also involved here, by way of a candy-striped emerald short-suit and a crimson pantsuit. As eclectic as it was, this offering had a cohesive message for today’s women: don’t be afraid to have fun with fashion!
