When we say that we want designers to push their brands forward into the future, what Francesco Ragazzi did with Palm Angels this season is what we meant. In sharper cuts, stronger silhouettes, and fine fabrications, he established a hybrid look that combined the big trends of the moment: traditional tailoring and streetwear. And yet, neither looked forced nor gimmicky. His Fall 2019 collection looked effortless in highlighting all the major styles that are in demand these days. Like the suit, for example, which he played with one by paneling it up with neon-colored nylon fanny pack-like bags. Exceptionally cut jackets were paired with space age-looking activewear tights and track pants—a stunning combination of old-school refinement with modern edginess. And the sculpted dresses in shimmering leather? Simply to die for! No doubt Ragazzi’s show was one of the highlights of New York Fashion Week, and come fall, his collection will surely sell incredibly well!
