Menswear is founded upon traditional tailoring and bespoke clothes-making, but that doesn’t mean one has to sacrifice comfort. What good will a well-tailored suit do if the man inside it can’t move about freely or even sit down? Pierre Mahéo knows that in order to sell clothes that men will buy, they have to be comfortable. He touched upon this principle when he presented his brand Officine Generale spring 2019 collection. “These are clothes for real life,” he proclaimed and were they ever! Sophisticated yet understated, one can clearly see that the models were all cozy wearing his magnetic pieces. It’s easy to feel comfortable in that silky pajama-like top, or the striped-shirts worn under softly-tailored suits. The denim jackets were less rigid and the outerwear was slouchy yet refined. There was almost no end to the comfort this collection brought to the menswear arena. And it’s possible that by next summer, everyone will be wearing Officine Generale.
