“It’s a man’s world and women are dressing for it,” Such is the philosophy of Officine Générale—offering a feminine touch to otherwise masculine tropes of fashion. Season after season, this savory brand gives women precise and impeccable tailoring, as if their pieces were made in the famous Saville Row in London. But for Pre-Fall 2019, creative director Pierre Mahéo gave a slightly more feminine edge to his collection. A hint of leopard print here, a leather A-line skirt there, and a few modest yet beautiful dresses in between. Although most of the looks are still quite mannish, there is a softness to them that many women, even those unfamiliar with the brand’s signature, would appreciate. If not for the exquisite construction, possibly for their luxurious fabrication, be it the high-quality leathers or the exotic weaves imported from other countries. Clearly, there’s more to Officine Générale than meets the eye, and here’s to hoping a different point of view will emerge in the coming seasons.
