Virgil Abloh apparently doesn’t like “preppy” clothing anymore. That style used to be the dominant look for high-class people to play various sports in. Now, however, Abloh is changing this narrative with his Off-White Resort 2019 collection. Activewear took center-stage in this line, with neoprene and camo swimwear, nylon separates, and even some jelly shoes. But these weren’t the kind of sportswear clothes exclusive to the gym. Abloh understands that today’s women are active everywhere, whether they’re working out or working for a cocktail party. He injected a bit more fashion flavor to these pieces that made them fit for all sorts of occasions, allowing women to go straight from the gym and into a hot date. The tracksuits were printed with dainty florals, pleated skirts made for great matching bottoms to skin-tight sweaters, and bright pops of neon green and fuschia pink made for eye-catching details. Even with all the hype around him and all that he’s doing, Abloh clearly deserves some credit for understanding what women need nowadays.
