The Candy Slick Glowy Lip Color is a new lip gloss formula from NYX Cosmetics that is said to feature full coverage color as part of its arsenal, which might be unusual for a lip gloss, but to some extent, it does work.
So, where do we begin? It’s not everyday that you see a lip gloss whose colors are as bright and full-coverage as that of the Candy Slick Glowy Lip Color, but the product manages the feat with appropriate aplomb. Once you do a few layers of the gloss, the color is intense, especially the brighter shades available in the range. This product also gives you hydration to spare without a heavy, tacky feeling. That on top of a gorgeous packaging that evokes a candy cane should theoretically make this product a categorical win. But it stumbles on the way to the finish line.
The most prominent problem of the product is that it looks quite patchy when you do apply it to the lips, which is why you’d have to layer it in the first place. Sometimes, the color isn’t consistent, and sometimes it’s the finish that tends to look off. It also tends to feel very oily after a little while, giving the lips an unnecessary slip that is strange. Finally, the color does have tend to transfer a lot so you have to be careful with your mouth.
Do these things necessarily ruin any possible enjoyment from using the Candy Slick Glowy Lip Color? Absolutely not. But it does make it difficult to wholeheartedly love, in our opinion.
