Pros
The Nomos Glashütte Autobahn Watch got the appearance down to a T, with its aesthetically pleasing surface and dial, which will satisfy every minimalist timepiece-loving soul out there. Likewise, the dial will caught attention of sport lovers, as it perfectly mimics a sports car’s dashboard speedometer, with cool luminescent striping and a highlight on the numbers 8, 10, 12, 2 and 4. It’s a wonder how Nomos was able to keep things looking neat, despite the successful incorporation of motorsports inspiration into the design.
The façade of the Autobahn Watch is a total charmer, yet the timepiece is also praised for what’s underneath—the next generation NOMOS automatic caliber Neomatik Date. Another major plus is the mechanical movement that enables the three-date feature of the watch, showing yesterday, today, and tomorrow’s dates. High-performance and accuracy are also strong suits of the movement, despite taking up just 3.6mm, allowing the sleek look of the slim and lightweight timepiece.
Cons
Despite its good points, the Nomos Glashütte Autobahn Watch fell short in terms of practicality and wearer’s experience, with complaints on the dial’s legibility and the slim hands that easily cause confusion. For some designs, the luminescent hand feature only applies to the hour hand, just making time-keeping hard for the wearer. The small window on the bottom part that shows the three-date feature doesn’t appeal to everyone as well, hinting that the simple and straightforward style may be an old trick, but a trick that works wonders, nonetheless.
