In the years since its inception, the much revered Air Force 1 has received its generous share of praise and fans. Among them was designer Don C, who still remembers the first time he spotted them on a friend; Dave Jeff was the homeboy’s name. Every time Don C saw him and his AF-1s, Don C couldn’t help but gawk and feel envy that his feet didn’t have the iconic pair.
But today, Don C has definitely gone a long way. The now successful designer has founded his own streetwear brand, Just Don, and has made it a household name with his much talked collaborations with Nike, often concerning Air Jordans. Last year, he’s had a shot with designing his very own Air Force 1, letting his personal style shine while still remaining true to the aesthetic of the beloved shoes.

Don C’s take on the Air Force 1 brought to light two of the succeeding Forces that also made their own distinct mark for Nike, the Air Force II and the Air Force III. For the designer, he wanted his iteration to display certain characteristics of the Force family. The toe is undeniably an AF-1 staple, the heel from the AF-II, and the midfoot inspired by the AF-III. These have come together to give fans the Don C-stamped, novel and subtly luxurious Air Force 1s.
Pros
Don C lends his expertise to Nike in transforming the fully utilitarian Air Force 1s to something elegant. Even though the shoes are all white save for the gold accents, the shoes are still gorgeous in a simpler way. The pair uses different textures for the leather, although the snakeskin really lets the swoosh and the shoes pop. The material is luxuriously soft and removes the inconvenience breaking in brings. If you’re after sneakers you can wear everyday, these are pretty good options especially when considering versatility; their understated beauty will make you and your clothes look more refined.
Cons
The Just Don AF-1s run larger than usual, so it is better to take a size smaller to make them more snug on the feet. Despite the soft materials, these are not the most comfortable out of the Forces or the Nike collection, for that matter. The cushioning is adequate, but that’s about it for the soles.
