Star power knows no bounds, particularly in the fashion industry. An endorsement from a big-named celebrity guarantees retail success, especially if that certain piece adheres to the star’s personal style. Moreover, fashion and retail have seen their fair share of superstar collaborations, garnering more success for the brands and the products. This is why Nike’s Lebron line has become a force to be reckoned with in the business, especially now that it has touched on one of the brand’s classics: the Diamond Turf. Introducing, the Nike Lebron 15 “Red Diamond Turf” sneakers.

Nike’s “Diamond Turf” shoes debuted back in the 1990’s and were revolutionary of their time. The model encouraged wearers to pursue more than one athletic endeavor, which was reflected on how the pair was perfect for both basketball and American football, among other sports. This year, just last August 9, the brand reinvented these beloved sneakers as part of Lebron James’ eponymous collection, complete with the original red colorway. A limited release, the shoes sell at $200 per pair.
Pros
Faithful to the original iteration, the “Red Diamond Turf” sneakers are perfect to wear for playing more than one sport. They’re light enough to play basketball in, but also secure enough to be worn during an American football game. In fact, this new reinvented pair still has the iconic midfoot strap that was big during the 1990s. The original blood-red colorway is also as striking as ever, more so now that it’s contrasted with a black-and-white color scheme.
Cons
Usually, basketball sneakers are better worn on the street than on the court. But Nike’s new Lebron 15 “Red Diamond Turf” sneakers may have flipped that over. With all its original construction and fastenings, this pair is perfect to play basketball and other various sports in. However, with its decidedly strong colorway and the Lebron James line’s signature textile, it’s rather difficult to pair these shoes up with just any outfit. One has to be careful on how to style themselves when wearing these sneakers, else they’ll look like a walking fashion disaster.
