We have seen it over the years, and we know for a fact that endorsements and collaborations with the biggest superstars in sports pave the way to a brand’s international success. Well, that and the quality of the products they sell, of course. But there is something about our sports heroes promoting a certain product that makes it extremely appealing to the market. Take Michael Jordan and the Nike Air Jordan as an example, if you will. The collaboration between the two is a marketing legend that made the Air Jordan sneakers line skyrocket to super stardom.

Taking a cue from this successful deal with basketball legend Michael Jordan, multinational apparel corporation Nike has signed, once again, a true basketball hero, LeBron James. The speculated $1 billion dollar sneakers deal with Lebron brings out a line of sneakers that are highly anticipated by fans all over the world. One of these is the Nike LeBron 15 “Equality.”

Release Date: 2018
Prices: $890 to $1,150

The shoe debuted on the feet of LeBron himself during the opening night of the ‘17-’18 NBA season in October 2017. However, the limited edition Equality sneakers was only launched exclusively through an online draw in the United States by Nike, in an effort to celebrate and support Nike’s message of equality and inclusion for all. Only 400 pairs, 200 in white and 200 in black, were given away. If luck was not on your side during the raffle draw, you can avail or bid the shoes in some shopping sites from $890 to $1,150.

Pros

The ever-outspoken King James engraves in the special edition Nike LeBron 15 an important social message for everyone: Equality. But more than the message it represents, the shoes is performance built for anything – running, skipping, jumping, you name it. Thanks to its Nike Zoom and Nike Air technology embedded in its sole, the shoes is bouncy enough for a two-hundred-forty-pound forward like LeBron. Also, the deep grooves on the outsole provides a good traction and court grip that is immensely beneficial while playing ball.

Using Nike’s advanced Battleknit fabric, the sock-like design feature of the shoe is quite remarkable. The flexibility, texture, and comfort offered by this new lightweight material improves the overall fit of the shoes. Surprisingly, the shoes is lightweight and its three-dimensional style is aesthetically appealing.

Cons

Features wise, the Nike LeBron 15 Equality is arguably impressive. However, one disappointing thing that has been noted by some is the lack of outriggers. Because of the shoes’ high ride and narrow tooling (midsole and outsole), the shoe needs outriggers for lateral stability. Having outriggers, which can give the shoe a wider platform, may help brace the athlete whenever they need to cut in different directions and improve overall performance.
