Nicole Miller was never one to chase the cool girl, but for Pre-Fall 2019, she was inspired one—model Alyona Subbotina. Subbotina is a platinum-haired streetsmart muse that stars in Miller’s pre-seasonal lookbook, which is perfect casting since most of the clothes fit her style and attitude. As with other “cool girl” offerings, this line had an interesting mix of masculinity and femininity. The former was highlighted by the casual tailoring—slightly oversized leather bombers, skinny denim jeans, and a few selections of high-collared shirts. The latter, on the other hand, dominated the scene with floral-enthused pieces. Billowy chiffon frocks and frilly cocktail dresses evoked Miller’s signature daintiness and ease. Yet, even with all these florals, leathers, tailoring, denim, and more, this collection stands testament to the fact that the impact of clothes relies solely on attitude. If you have that, you’ll easily look cool yourself!
