It’s always great to see a designer go back to his roots when moving forward with his fashions. This was exactly what Naeem Khan did for his spring 2019 show in New York City. In his collection, he looked back to his fashion and ethnic origins and what the both mean to his relevance as a designer in this day and age. For the former, he touched upon his old mentor Halston and his iconic heritage in the 1970s. This was where all the vibrant colors, freeform silhouettes, and elegant evening wear came from. For the latter, Khan incorporated the traditional dressing from his native India into the wardrobe of his 21st-century party girls. The result? A beautiful array of draped dresses the embraced the female form and celebrated her carefree party lifestyle. The show was myriad of all these beautiful references and more, and it shed light on how truly relevant and even inspiring Naeem Khan is for the women of today.
