Mulberry may be a classic label, but it’s not supposed to be too old-looking. This is our biggest criticism on their latest Fall 2019 collection. On first glance, it’s easy to note its prettiness and traditional appeal, but upon further inspection, we saw that there were many major faults in the line. For one thing, some proportions were completely off and unflattering. What good was the impeccable tailoring for if the customer might look frumpy and stumpy when wearing the clothes? There’s a difference between ladylike and old lady-esque glamour and unfortunately, this offering leaned more on the latter. It was also evident that this was Johnny Coca‘s ill-attempt at breaking into the streetwear market, with unfavorable results. The hints of sportswear were just awkward and, when set against his overall traditional narrative, looked incredibly misplaced in the whole grand scheme of things. All in all, we just felt confused at the whole thing, and we’re afraid the customers might feel the same way come fall!
