When you can tone down the house’s codes to a more approachable and streetwise style, you’ve got gold! Creative director Casey Cadwallader did exactly that for his latest offering for Mugler. The legendary eponymous founder of the brand. Thierry Mugler, was known for his almost contortionist-like style of extravagant tailoring in the 90s. In his Fall 2019 collection, Cadwallader translated that type of strictness to a more business-ready line that helps women achieve the same type of shapeliness within their work settings. Precisely cut jackets and suits, as well as a few dresses, made for excellent daywear ensembles to evoke power and strength without looking too masculine. Though many prints Cadwallader incorporated here were a bit much (even for Mugler standards), the pinstripes and animal-looking graphics were incredibly fierce. While these aren’t the clothes the likes of Kim K and Cardi B will be seen in on the red carpet, they’re actually the ones that will sell incredibly well come fall! Bravo, Mr. Cadwallader!
