September 2022 Sales (LATEST)

It’s easy to brush off a collection inspired by Federico Fellini, especially if it comes from an Italian label. But fashion shouldn’t underestimate Jeremy Scott‘s ability to put on an extravaganza even when his references have already been played out before. For Pre-Fall 2019, Scott put on a Roma-esque fashion show in tribute to the great Italian director, even holding it in Rome for a more authentic experience. And what does a Fellini-style Moschino collection look like? A confidently sexy, sensual, and slightly avant-garde take on Italian bourgeoisie dressing. It was a burst of subversive creativity and frothy campiness that were both indelible signatures in Fellini’s films. A floor-length olive green coat, for example, was given black satin balloons as sleeves and gilded with Ancient Roman iconography. While a men’s romper was made entirely out of Italian lace and nipped by the waist with a shimmering hot pink sash. The play on sexual identity was extremely strong here as well, what with the women dressed in a lot of strictly-tailored looks while men had theirs paired with fringes, feathers, and tulle skirts. This is the sort of fashion the world needs nowadays, and hopefully, the industry will be a lot less scrutinizing of Jeremy Scott’s humorous approach.
