Moncler x Simone Rocha might seem like the least likely collaboration that would work but their Fall 2019 collection proved otherwise. Inspired by girls camping and their protective nature with such, Rocha upheld her covered-up classic shapes even when she worked with the Milanese label’s puffer sensibilities. With her couture-like techniques, she twisted and tied the fine fabrications into elegant cocoon-like shapes that almost seemed innocent, but were actually quite protective. Though some were a bit too cartoonish that it seemed like the models were already wearing comforters, most of the line had a romantic refinement to it that was all too familiar with Simone Rocha. The first wintry white look that was enclosed by a big bow by the collar encapsulated this mish-mash of ideas down to a tee, as well those big shapes fastened by ribbons. A ruched and ruffled coat, slightly streamlined in form, on the other hand, adhered more to Rocha’s aesthetic but paid credence to Moncler’s outerwear attitude. Overall, this was a stunning outing that’s bound to resonate with fans from both brands!
