Remember the colorful and electric days of glam rock of the late 70s and early 80s? The designers over at MM6 Maison Margiela certainly do. They even recounted and reinterpreted those same styles for the subsidiary line’s spring 2019 offering. Here, things were turned completely upside-down. The usual denim pieces were made out of silk, inner garments were worn on the outside, and there was a less showing of skin compared to actual days of glam rock. This was a more mature and covered-up collection, which was interesting as the eras it paid tribute to had a lot of sex going on. Save for a few fishnet stockings on some looks, the mini dresses and short skirts were traded in for draped pant suits, long maxi-skirts in cotton and satin, and a few oversized pieces. It was unclear what the message being conveyed here was, but on their own, a lot of these pieces were still desirable.
