Michael Kors was always and has always been about the joys of fashion. His clothes, particularly the spring lines, often conveyed a sense of five-star relaxation or adventures that made for happier days under the sun. His spring 2019 collection was no different. In fact, this time, it’s an overload of joy courtesy of the crazy tropical prints, bright colors, and freeform silhouettes. Here, the prints clashed, the colors were too vivid, and luxury was overall unapologetic. Yet no one cared, because the clothes looked happy, sunny, and were just begging to be worn in the beaches of St. Tropez or Malibu. Even the evening looks that faded the color palette from rainbow to black and white still evoked a sense of joy that’s intrinsically part of Kors’ overall style DNA. Just seeing Gigi Hadid in that cut-out, open-back, midnight black evening dress for the finale made one all the more excited for summer to arrive.
