As a longtime resident of New York’s famous Greenwich Village, it wasn’t long before Michael Kors got inspired by this iconic neighborhood. For Pre-Fall 2019, however, he was more influenced by how it was back in the 1970s when the area was made up of artists, writers, aspiring actors, and the like. It’s clear from this offering that the bohemian and carefree spirit is still there, but in 2019, it’s a bit more romantic and glamorous. Glamorous in the mohair coats that would willow in the wind as the woman would stroll along West 12th Street. Romantic with the barrage of floaty floral day and cocktail dresses, confidently showcasing one’s femininity for all the world to see. And in the current streetwear environment, hints of denim and metallics were also thrown into the mix. But perhaps the most striking about this line is how polished everything looks. This woman may be a bohemian living in Greenwich Village, but she’s a headstrong femme fatale who knows what she wants and knows she’ll get it sooner or later!
