The iconic newspaper-printed dress designed by John Galliano for Christian Dior has undoubtedly become an iconic piece of clothing. It was first worn outside the runway by Sarah Jessica Parker for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the HBO hit series, Sex and The City. Years later, Miaou designer Alexia Elkaim uses the dress as a starting point for the brand’s spring 2019 line. The collection was all about the cool girl and her affection for crazy prints, cropped silhouettes, and bold colors. Succeeding the first few newspaper-printed looks were 80s-style polka-dotted pieces and 2000s-esque tye dye items, all of which looked contemporary. There was a nonchalant vibe to it all, which raised up the cool factor tenfold. And for the big finish, a series of vividly-hued sportswear looks that all the cool girls of today will certainly go gaga over! As a whole, this new line was the merging of the old cool girl, ones that religiously followed Carrie Bradshaw’s NYC escapades, and the new cool girl, ones that follow Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner on Instagram.
