Rebellion isn’t new in British fashion. There’s the uniformity of Burberry, the romantic savagery of Alexander McQueen, and of course, the punk edge of Vivienne Westwood. One of the latter’s latest protégés recently showed his spring 2019 collection in the same vein, Matty Bovan. This season, he’s put a quirky and whimsical spin on British punk fashion, mixing and matching graphic prints, varying hues, and slogan pieces in an eclectic offering. The silhouette remained ladylike in their ballgown shapes and tailored suits ensemble. Some looks even exhibited avant-garde headdresses in the vein of John Galliano during his golden Dior days. By the looks of it, the landscape of British fashion will continue to evolve, and similar to the greats before them, the likes of Matty Bovan will continue to excite the industry for years to come.
