Male French style isn’t easy to encapsulate into one collection, but Martin Grant did so for Fall 2019. Similarly to its feminine counterpart, French men’s style is all about simplicity and refinement. This season, Grant focused on quality than aesthetics, putting forth an array of sleek silhouettes with timeless appeal and modern elegance. A yam orange suit, for example, was offset by a cream jersey turtleneck to evoke a sensually simple yet exceptionally chic look. Others might think it too feminine, but it’s the slight tinge of gender-fluidity that has always made French style so alluring. In fact, even the all-black look of a precisely cut double-breasted jacket and pencil-thin trousers would appear as seductive on a woman as it did on a man. The ease here was almost electrifying, as the clothes seemed so little yet conveyed so much. If Grant continues on this path, he may just find himself the new star of the fashion sphere in no time!
