Tailoring is usually used for haute couture-like offerings by the biggest luxury fashion labels, but for Pre-Fall 2019, Marissa Webb is proving that it can also be incorporated for an easy and streetwise contemporary label. This season is evidently one of her more structured offerings, taking on precise form and definitive shapes but still injecting her own chic nonchalance into the mix. An olive-green mini-dress, for example, with a corset-tight A-line shape and an Elizabethan-esque neckline, has a tinge of old-school sophistication and rustic femininity, yet it’s also simple and street-worthy. As is the floral-print ecru top with defined pouf sleeves paired with well-cut khaki pants. This mix of strictness and ease is bound to attract those women who are now on the crossroads in fashion—the ones who want to stay simple and relaxed but still evoke a sense of sophistication to make an impact!
