It’s safe to say that Marchesa has a special connection with flowers. If they’re not embroidered or embellished onto dresses, they’re printed on them with the delicacy of a watercolor painting. This was the most interesting part of the label’s Pre-Fall 2019 Collection. While they’re known for their big volumes, cascades of tulle and princess-like silhouettes, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig ventured a little beyond their comfort zone with some stunning floral prints. They incorporated them on easy-to-wear day dresses and off-the-shoulder tops. Eventually, they appeared on some their evening frocks as well. It was a more refined take on creating eye-catching visuals without having to bombard the pieces with crystals and feathers. The rich color palette was also a new step for the design duo, making use of bright yellow and olive green for the floral pieces and rich shades of royal plum, crimson, and fuschia pink for their more standard evening selection. Although the latter is bound to be more present on the red carpet, women who’ll opt for the watercolor floral-printed numbers would likely turn heads as well!
