There’s going classic and phoning it in, and we can’t help but feel that Maliparma did the latter for this season. Are the clothes from their Fall 2019 collection luxurious? There’s no doubt about it! But are they worthy to invest in? That question remains to be answered. For us, we’re not huge fans of simple clothes without a clever narrative or an overarching motivation. Sure, these clothes look good despite their questionable construction and poor tailoring, but if other brands are offering the same types of fashions with better quality and more creativity, there’s no hesitating the customers to go left field! We also can’t deny the familiar signatures taken from other designers. Those silk trousers in cream look almost exactly like what Tom Ford presented earlier this season. And those big sequinned skirts? Right out of Paco Rabanne‘s playbook! Where’s the originality? Where’s the creativity? When they come back (hopefully next season) then we’ll start paying attention again!
