The Select Moisturecover Concealer has received applause from many in the beauty community, which of course intrigues us. After all, who wouldn’t want to see what all the hype behind any product is about? But then, we found ourselves just downright disappointed by this product—especially from such a great brand like MAC Cosmetics.
As the name implies, this concealer packs a lot of moisturizing powder—moreso than plenty of concealers out there that claim to do the same thing, but are clearly exaggerating. Because it leaves your skin so moisturized, the tendency for the product to crease is very rare. Both of these qualities in concert make this, theoretically, a great undereye concealer.
So where does it fail? Well, first of all, we found ourselves flabbergasted at the lack of coverage this provides. Applying this product felt like we were just putting on an extra layer of cream that didn’t really do anything of import. This concealer is also absolutely transfer-prone, so if you accidentally end up wiping off anything from any area you applied this concealer, you can say goodbye to the concealer. Finally, it’s just not particularly sweat-proof. On a particularly sweltering day, you’ll find trails of sweat where your concealer used to be.
We honestly expected better from a brand like MAC Cosmetics, but c’est la vie, I guess. They do have a lot of great, iconic products, but at the end of the day, this just doesn’t make the cut.
