Fashion brands are rarely homely, which makes M. Patmos a bit of a unique label. As their Fall 2019 Collection shows, the focus is on cozy knitwear and luxurious leisurewear—compeltely different from the office-ready tailoring or cool streetwear other brands are cooking up. Designer Marcia Patmos even describes these as “luxe, simple, cozy, keeper pieces that are modern.” However, the narrative behind this line is similar to those of other designers: offering an escape from today’s hectic world. In the same way a safety blanket protects babies when they’re scared, these plush pieces bring in comfort and ease that is, at the same time. ultimately luxurious. Oversized and freeform, these clothes don’t constrain the body to the point that the wearer will feel trapped, but rather they embrace them with such gentle smoothness that those lucky enough to wear them won’t ever want to take them off. Whether one is in a cabin up in the mountains or in their apartment in the heart of the metropolis, this collection offers a stunning and soft refuge from the hardness of today’s world.
