Lorod’s Lauren Rodriguez was inspired by sports for Pre-Fall 2019, but her collection isn’t exactly made up of sportswear. It’s more in the vein of the old-school luxury definition of sportswear—in reality, it’s just a fancier word for casual everyday pieces. In an attempt to combine fun with functionality, her offering this season is all about a refined touch on casual style, all the while injecting a sense of humor as well. A knitted cardigan, for instance, was slightly cropped to reach until only the waist, when usually the garment requires to reach until the hips. A pinstriped suit, on the other, was made to look a bit more industrial with the multiple pockets and the eye-catching buttons. These are definitely pieces that have some quirk to them, which might just be what will attract all sorts of characters to want to buy them once they hit to stores this fall!
