Jonathan Anderson focuses on craft this season for Loewe but in an effortless and subtler way. His collection for the luxury brand has always been crafty, but Fall 2019 saw it less obvious, stricter, and more alluring in its sublime sophistication. The first look, for example, was a black coat so streamlines and sleek that one would think it’s an haute couture piece. It certainly does merit such reverence, as do the patchwork pieces scattered all over the collection. From a grey and cream cocoon-like coat to a bone and black leather button-down, his use of this technique, which has become somewhat of a signature of his for this brand, was less obvious and substantially more refined. The idea of this offering it to appreciate craft to what it has achieved and not necessarily for what it stands for in the grand scheme of things. Anderson certainly presented the idea in its most beautiful essence, becoming yet another highlight once again during the whole Fashion Month!
