Laura Garcia knows the value of wearing a dress. In a highly political era when feminism is pushed to the forefront, designers have been finding various ways in encapsulating the strength and power of a woman through clothing. And while others venture into masculine territories—an attempt to blur the lines between genders—some, like Garcia, prefer to take on the delicate and feminine route. For her Fall 2019 collection, it’s as dressy as it gets with an array of frocks that are all frothy, frilly, and just plain beautiful. There wasn’t even that much trouser action in the mix, save for just one slim-cut pair worn with a ruffled top. The others, whether laced up, floral-printed or shimmering in rich velvet, are so pretty and dainty that one can’t imagine the power that lies within them. But there is power—the power in courageously flaunting one’s femininity in a time when women are slowly but surely gaining momentum in their pursuit of equality.
