Marrakech must be a designer’s paradise. So many designers have been inspired by this imperial city in Morocco, and the latest one is Jonathan Simkhai. His Pre-Fall 2019 Collection is heavily influenced by the iconic destination, from the sandy shades of his color palette to the free-form silhouettes. Fashion in Marrakech is often billowy, floaty, and soft, all of which are incorporated in this new offering. Skirts and dresses are cut on the biased, some even slit up to the thigh, to easily encourage more movement when the wearer walks or dances about. On the other hand, some skirts were also draped and tucked—evoking a more ethnic approach to dressing for fall. Even the tailoring here, with his fine array of pantsuits, had such nonchalant ease to them that felt light and airy. Pre-seasons are usually for the first class jet-setters, and if they want to travel to exotic Morocco, Simkhai just provided the perfect wardrobe for them!
