Johanna Ortiz is one of very few Latin American women in the high fashion game. And as proven by herself, as well as her contemporaries, the continent has a lot of fashionable flavors to share to the rest of the world. They were on full display at the designer’s resort 2019 fashion show in New York City, that coincided with the brand’s 15th anniversary. Yet despite celebrating 15 years of her work, Ortiz veered slightly away from her well-known signatures. Amidst her usual array of ruffled pieces and off-the-shoulder looks, were fringed cocktail outfits that were both long and luxurious. She also presented a new Hawaiian palm tree print, inspired by artist Pegge Hopper. In this mix of classic and new, that same Latin American flavor was still there, seducing women of all ethnicities to incorporate some on their own wardrobes.
