Things seem to be looking up for Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz. Not only is her brand reaching its 15th-anniversary mark, but she’s also venturing into new markets with her latest offerings. She used to be known primarily for her swimwear, but as proven by her Pre-Fall 2019 collection, she’s spreading her reach for a wider consumer audience. What was striking about this new line was the presence of more daywear—tweed suits, silky pantsuits, shirtdresses, and more. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Johanna Ortiz collection without a bit of Latin flavor, which this season, came in subtle animal prints on maxi-dresses and floaty slips. Not to mention the ruffles and frills that decorated the hems, necklines, and sleeves of some of the numbers, particularly the stark-white section that had a bit of macrame as well. Ortiz is clearly setting her sights on a woman in the jet-set crowd, and with this new collection, she’s bound to catch her attention!
