Jemma Wynne in the making
Jemma Wynne was founded by two women, Jenny Klatt and Stephanie Wynne Lalin who were both fresh out of college and met each other at their first job in 2005 in New York for a product development with a fine jewelry house, Judith Ripka. Both women instantly connected with their passion and love for arts. Both even have a small hand-beaded jewelry business at the time and sold at the New York Tri-State Area. It was no wonder they hit it off instantly and became good friends and eventually, business partners.
Jenny Klatt studied Art History at the University of Pennsylvania and in London while Stephanie Wynne Lalin took Graphic Design at American University. They worked together at Judith Ripka for three years. During that time, they have realized that they had similar design aesthetics and an aligned idea for their first collection.
The two founded Jemma Wynne in 2008 with the aim to create fine jewelry pieces that are luxurious and rich and yet casual enough to be worn every day. The idea was to fill the void in the market for “go-to” jewelry that women can incorporate their own style by stacking or layering with other pieces or wear as it is.
Classic meets casual
The designs of the brand are wonderful combinations of Stephanie’s classic and polished style and Jenny’s casual and relaxed feminine style. One of the first collections consisted of open bangles made of 18-karat gold thin wires with stones of different sizes and designs at the ends which can still be seen in Jemma Wynne’s collections up to now.
One of the most memorable for the two ladies would be when former First Lady Michelle Obama wore the label’s Limited Edition Bi-Color Tourmaline and Diamond Hoops as she visited the Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. The then First Lady looked perfect in her floral sweater and hair style that really matched her gorgeous luxe earrings. The earrings looked real elegant yet casual enough to be worn while the First Lady served food to the US soldiers assigned in Germany.
Celebrating milestones with fabulous jewelry
2018 is Jemma Wynne’s 10th Anniversary. And in commemoration of the occasion, two of their brand heritage and signature styles which were the “Prive Diamond Baguette Cuff” and “Prive Diamond Cuff” are reissued exclusively at Net-a-porter for the label’s decade anniversary. These are cuffs of different widths that are made of 18-karat gold and highly polished. These jewelry pieces which were the brand’s heritage and signature were further enhanced by adding star-set diamonds, signed by hand and engraved with “Anniversary Edition”. These pieces come with a gilded star booklet, a thank you note and authenticity card to show the distinctiveness of each item as well as to commemorate the occasion. These bracelets are limited edition pieces and are sold only at Jemma Wynne and Net-a-Porter.
Presently, Jemma Wynne is sold all over the United States and can be found at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. It also has international stores in Kuwait and Mexico City. The label’s collections and jewelry pieces are also sold online through its e-commerce site as well as Net-a-Porter, MyTheresa, and Moda Operandi among others.
