Jason Wu is a master of lace, which he proved quite beautifully for his Spring 2019 collection for Jason Wu Grey, his subline that has since dropped the ‘Grey’ from its label. Here, he managed to incorporate the dainty and delicate material into a series of business-ready looks for the everyday woman. Usually, when Jason Wu and lace come together, the result is a full-blown evening gown for a red carpet event. But here, he used lace to put a romantic touch on a stark-white midi-dress, a black-and-white skirt-suit, and a silky long-sleeved tunic. These were pieces women would wear for the office, and to have lace so evidently detailing their silhouettes gave them a bit of a sexier edge. Other looks in this collection featured collared shirts, denim pieces, and some sportswear elements—all of which were still chic and elegant. Looks like the Jason Wu woman is no longer just attending elegant affairs, she’s now working from nine to five as well!
