Iris Nazarena is Aedes de Venustas’ second scent, created with the expertise of perfumer Ralf Schwieger. According to the house, he was invited to do so because it has been his long desire to put a fragrance out there that is a more modern interpretation of iris, particularly the Nazarene iris. It was launched in 2013, a year after the Aedes de Venustas Signature.
Iris Nazarena by Aedes de Venustas Review
Aedes de Venustas’ sophomore fragrance is a different approach to iris that what we’re accustomed to, which makes this an intriguing product that iris fans might want to get a bottle of. The opening is dry and gray but not off-putting, and the heart keeps the feeling from overwhelming its wearer. The florals emerge, still blending seamlessly with the rest of the notes, and then the woods. We would not advise wearing this when you’re going for cheery and pretty.
A unique iris-centered scent that collectors would want to have
The heart of star anise and juniper berry keeps it from being a heavy and hard to wear fragrance for us
Good sillage and longevity
We’re not eager to wear this on summers
Some women may find that the fragrance leans on being masculine
