James Long had an interesting target audience this season: those quirky Italians from Milan who would go to the mountains every weekend for luxury skiing. Their vibrant styles, along with Long’s own London-induced streetwear vibe, informed Iceberg’s Fall 2019 Menswear show. To say that the presentation was a feast for the eyes is a complete understatement! A barrage of electric prints, vivid neon hues, and even a few cameos from Mickey Mouse made this ultimate winterwear line one of the most desirable and novel sportswear offerings of the season. Perhaps the best part about all of it was that there was an authenticity there, not just with the narrative Long worked on, but also with the identity of the Iceberg brand through the years. Those brightly hued anoraks, mega-printed sweaters, and oversized puffers are all well within the brand’s winterwear vocabulary—just touched up with a more contemporary vibe, even if the styling went a little too vintage at times. All in all, this was a strong outing for the brand, and when those Italians go on the slopes for the weekends again, one can guarantee that many of them will be wearing several of these wonderful pieces!
