For a streetwear designer, Henry Holland is not one to shy away from the stereotypical tropes of glamour. But in a true rebellious fashion, his take on it is slightly more urban and youthful, particularly for his Pre-Fall 2019 Collection. House of Holland is mostly known for his fearless use of color and print, which were abundant in this offering in a variety of silhouettes and forms. The first look alone, a long-sleeved bright orange dress with an asymmetric hem worn with a pair of jeans, had both sophistication and an edge that leaned towards a streetwear aesthetic but could still be worn in more refined functions as well (preferably without the jeans underneath). The glamour peaked when the prints came, and this season it’s all about zebra stripes in multiple colors. Animal print can look tacky and dated when approached improperly, but Holland managed to turn this already overused pattern into a futuristic look in different ways. A brown and yellow variation on a shirtdress is noteworthy in its undeniable elegance yet comfortable ease. If the younger streetwear crowd want to look more glamorous, House of Holland is definitely the brand to go for!
