It’s hard to think that high society can ever go bohemian, but if they did, what would they look like? Would they go for psychedelic prints and suede fringes? Or would they create a new look altogether? At Giambattista Valli’s Fall 2019 show, the latter seems to be more likely. Here, the bourgeois women are free-spirited, spunky, and effervescent, without, however, sacrificing their elegance. A flurry of floral prints reigned supreme in this offering, decorating day frocks, asymmetric-hemmed maxi-dresses, and more. Interestingly enough, most of those in the mini variety were of Edwardian silhouettes complete with mutton-style sleeves, as if to further perpetuate their strong stance on sophistication. If a high society girl were ever to rebel, these clothes from Giambattista Valli are what she’ll definitely go for!
