There’s a fine line between simple and boring, and Frame just barely towed this season. Their Fall 2019 collection has us completely divided. On one end, we see it as a pedestrian array of elevated basics trying to pass itself off as “high fashion.” On the contrary, it’s more high street than anything else, and we might even argue that there is more interesting stuff in Topshop than there is here! But on the other end, we can’t help but feel attracted to the chic and sophisticated approach Jens Grede and Erik Torstensson incorporated into the line. That cinnamon-brown python-skin coat is almost devastatingly chic you’d think it came from a Milanese brand! And that grey check suit? Even Mr. Armani himself would praise its divine cuts. But then we see the striped pieces, the flared denims, and the suede jackets and we’re back on the high street again! We wish the design duo had instilled a lot more creativity in making this collection. Perhaps then this line would have been a major hit instead of a cheap guilty pleasure come fall!
