With the Fenty x Puma spring 2018 collection, Rihanna has proven that she’s not an ordinary popstar-turned designer. While music superstars who have their own brands simply lend their names and faces to their lines, Riri has incorporated her own style into hers. She was already a champion of the sportswear-turned-streetwear aesthetic even before social media blew it up, and she channeled all her angst and swagger onto her Park Avenue fashion show. There were skin-tight bodysuits, sexy scuba onesies, and nylon parkas and anoraks—all painted in a vivid color scheme of stark navies and neon hues. The streetwear element came in the comfier oversized pieces, with a hoodie over here and a t-shirt over there. But it wasn’t long before the show took on the sportswear route again, this time with sexy leather slouchy boots worn with oversized jackets. As for the closing, trust Victoria’s Secret bombshell Adriana Lima to stun the audience in a bright purple bodysuit proudly bearing the label “PUMA” across her famous chest. This was a big fashion moment for “Badgalriri,” one that the industry will never forget.
