What is it about Miami that Italian designers find so enchanting? In the 80s and 90s, couture maestro Gianni Versace lived famously in the city and often took inspiration from it. For resort 2019, Fausto Puglisi follows suit. But while Versace stayed within the confines of his signature nightlife aesthetic, Puglisi sees his men and women living a sexy, day-to-night lifestyle in his clothes. For the women, this meant a lot of floaty dresses in graphic palm tree prints with a few bright-hued pieces in color blocking. For the men, it’s all about athleisure with star-printed hoodies and basketball shorts. Despite the obvious nods to Versace, Puglisi’s own offering is entirely his own and is completely contemporary.
