Never underestimate the power of a global luxury fashion brand. Etro is one such powerhouse in Milan that, time and time again, shows they’re capable of transforming their well-established codes into the fashions of today. Their 65 looks for their spring 2019 womenswear collection can attest to that. Led by Veronica Etro, heiress and creative director of her family-owned eponymous label, she put forth a colorful and carefree proposal for the season. Inspired by the surf culture of American youth and the bohemian sensibilities in Asia and the Pacific, the dresses here were longer but livelier, separates were softer, while the prints stayed as paisley as ever. Each outfit was a feast for the eyes as the colors and patterns harmonized together in such a way that only decades of experience can achieve. The show was an exercise of fashion strength, one that other younger brands might want to take note of.
